I have a really fun and pretty easy modern DIY project for your home today. This geometric sculpture DIY art piece is definitely going to raise your sideboard or shelf decorating game up a notch. Geometric sculptures are on-trend right now. If you love them as much as I do keep reading to find out how you can create your own geometric sculpture DIY art piece for your home using mostly Dollar Tree products. Yes, you heard me! Using mostly dollar Tree products! Intrigued keep reading.
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR THE DIY GOLD GEOMETRIC SCULPTURE
- Wind Twister (diamond)-> Dollar Tree
- Gold Spray paint (I used Krylon in Gold Leaf)
- Wooden box or wooden box with figure (Dollar Tree)
- Wooden dowel or I used thick long BBQ skewers (Dollar Tree)
- Hot glue
- Marble contact paper (Walmart)
SCULPTURE INSTRUCTIONS:
STEP 1:
Remove the wind twister out of the plastic package. I used two wind twisters in two different sizes and shapes. Cut off the string and plastic piece from both wind twisters.
STEP 2:
Use one thick and long bbq skewer or dowel and cut to your desired length. If you do use a bbq skewer please cut off the pointed end. I made each skewer different lengths so my sculpture can have the layered look.
STEP 3:
Spray paint the wind twister and wooden dowel with gold or any other metallic color that you desire.
STEP 4:
If you are using the Dollar Tree wooden craft boxes they must be pulled apart. I used a thin chisel and a hammer to pull the two pieces apart. I used the butterfly craft box. Therefore, I had to remove the butterfly to use the opened box. You can skip this step if you have a box or made your own box.
STEP 5:
Cut out a piece of foam board the size of the box and glued it to the top of the box to make a closed box. You can skip this step if your box is already enclosed
STEP 6:
Neatly wrap the marble contract paper around your box. Take your time during this step so that the edges are nice and crisp and look like real marble. Cut out two square pieces and apply them to the ends of the uncovered areas.
STEP 7:
With the pointed part of the skewer, you did not use, poke a hole in the top of your box where you applied the form board. If your box already has a hole on the long side of the box, find that hole and insert your dowel into it to create an opening.
STEP 8:
Glue the gold wind twister to your gold skewer and allow the glue to dry. I used a high-temperature glue gun and used a generous amount of glue.
STEP 9:
Apply a small amount of glue to your hole on your box and insert your wind twister and dowel into the hole. Once you have inserted the dowel into the hole. Glue around the dowel to make sure it stands secure. And you’re done! I wanted to make two so I repeat the steps again to make another one.
I styled these beautiful geometric sculpture DIY art pieces on my rustic style sideboard. AI love the mix of metals.
Until Next Time,
Sincerely Jackline
