We have added a new section to the blog that we are really excited about. We will review books every other Sunday to create a different twist to the blog, to help stimulate conversations, and get you inspired. The books will not always be on fashion related topics, but they will be on topics that will hopefully provide practical information to get you closer to reaching your goals.
Today’s book/audio book is a must read for anyone in a leadership/influencer position. That may include bloggers, vloggers, managers, political figures, etc. For my fellow bloggers this review and book may provide you with insight into why people may want to follow/support your blog.
In his book “The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader” author John C Maxwell aims to answer questions that we may ask at times. What makes people want to follow a leader? What sets a leader apart from the rest of the group?
Maxwell’s book aims to highlight the traits and qualities that shape a leader from the inside out. His book offers practical tips; daily practices and insight that will help you understand the mind of a successful leader.
I just wanted to highlight the first 3 qualities listed in his book:
1. Your Character is your most important asset! Action is the real indicator of character and it is built on every choice we make. Do your words and actions match? Are you willing to cut corners, compromise or let people down? Character is what we do when no one is watching.
2. Charisma is simply the ability to draw people to you. Charismatic leader’s love life, give people hope while only seeing the good in them. Pride, moodiness, insecurities are some of the qualities that will hinder one’s ability to connect with others.
3. Commitment. Successful leaders have a goal and never turn their eye away from it. As a leader others also depend on you. Commitment starts in the heart, is tested by action and opens the door to achievement.
The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader was a quick read (listen) with inspiring stories, oriented towards personal growth that results in developing leadership qualities. There is no substitute for hard work in achieving success and John C Maxwell did a great job in presenting realistic steps that ANYONE can implement in their day to day lives. As bloggers, business women/men, educators, students etc., we are all influencers and can certainly benefit from the insight shared in this book.
Let us know what qualities in a person draws you to them?
You can find more information about the book here
Hope you enjoyed the post
Until Next Time
